When it’s time to find the right Memory Care Community for your family member, you want to be sure that your loved one is well cared for in a nurturing, safe environment where compassionate staff associates treat each resident as an individual. Artis Senior Living of Princeton Junction, a brand new specialized Memory Care Community, will provide all of these services and more! The easily accessible community is conveniently located on Alexander Road nearby the Princeton Junction train station.

Although new to this area, Artis draws on 60 years of experience in the field of senior living care with a specific expertise in the design, development, and operation of memory care residences. Artis, an acronym for its philosophy, stands for Ability to Have a Voice, Respecting and Maintaining Relationships, Treasuring Each Person’s Uniqueness, Integrity, and Success and Recognition. “We do things the ARTIS way, which is all about forming Positive Partnerships,” says Barbara Forshner, Director of Community Relations. These partnerships begin with an initial assessment completed by the Director of Health and Wellness and the Director of Partnership Development.

Family members of all incoming residents are asked to complete a comprehensive profile of their loved one’s routines and preferences. “The profiles are used to create a unique care plan for each individual,” says Sharonda Hogans, Director of Partnership Development.

In addition to care planning, Artis also values the importance of learning about the life of each resident. Cheryl Harris, Director of Marketing, points out that “Each one of our residents comes to us with their own unique life history and we’d like our programming to be meaningful to them.” Residents’ life interests are often incorporated into the Artis schedule of activities. “We want a resident who was a baker to still be able to enjoy baking,” says Harris.

“Many of our Care Partners have had personal experience caring for loved ones with memory loss and are therefore passionate about memory care,” says Kelly McNulty, Executive Director.

Kim Scognomillo, Director of Business Services, added that Artis requires extensive dementia training for its associates, sharing “We want our associates to not only care for our residents, but to have a true understanding of what they are experiencing.”

The community consists of 64 private rooms within four differently themed neighborhoods, each with a dining room, open kitchen, and porch. These small intimate environments, provide a sense of community. Maureen Gallagher, Director of Health and Wellness, shared, “studies have proven that this type of architectural design emphasizes familiarity helping residents locate their apartments and acclimate to their surroundings.”

Artis is currently accepting reservations, anticipating that the first residents will be moving in toward the end of January. At this time during the pre-opening phase, residents who are part of our Legacy Club will have the $3,000 Community Fee waived.

The Greater Princeton Community is invited to a Grand Opening to be held on Sunday, January 21.
