As a premiere early childhood school in the central New Jersey area, Pennington Montessori provides preschool education to children of all backgrounds. We provide a solid educational foundation in a safe, nurturing environment to foster an enthusiasm for learning that is innate in every child.

The Montessori teaching method is a child-centered approach that utilizes ongoing observation by the teacher to determine and respond to individual needs. Montessori considers that each child is unique, and that children at this age develop and progress at their own pace. Each child is treated with respect and encouraged to do the same in their interactions with others, incorporating grace and courtesy into our daily routine. A child’s education is the result of many influences, including teachers, parents, peers, and the natural world. To this end, Montessori places a strong emphasis on building the support and direct involvement of our parents, both in and out of the classroom.

Pennington Montessori School has earned silver LEED-EB Certification. The certification was awarded by the United States Green Council, and makes Pennington Montessori the first school in New Jersey to transform its entire campus into a Silver LEED Certified Operation. The benefits of a ‘green’ school manifest themselves in creating a healthy, comfortable environment that is conducive to learning.

A green curriculum includes on-site gardening. “The faculty and students are eager to participate in our sustainability initiatives and goals,” explains Director Kathleen Hannah. “Thanks to the commitment shown by the faculty, the students are really absorbing the concepts and their power to impact the environment.” The incredible gardening program enables the children to care for and nurture a living part of the school. The children maintain the garden and throughout the year are able to enjoy delicious food and make beautiful natural crafts.
