Martha Wright Coaching & Consulting: Focus on Emotional Intelligence to Train Leaders

Martha Wright, an executive coach and training consultant, helps organizations develop associates and managers to be more effective leaders and she does so with a twist: she incorporates emotional intelligence.

As president of Martha Wright Coaching & Consulting, Wright uses this technique to help people become more self-aware, manage their emotions and, most importantly, read and respond well to other’s emotions.

“Any employee, particularly a manager, can sometimes feel like an ER doctor thrown into the middle of a crisis,” Wright said. “Coming out of the recession and a slew of mergers and acquisitions, people are unnerved and upset by change. I help people to handle that, and to do their jobs well no matter what’s going on around them.”

Wright points to recent studies that show 47 percent of a manager’s success comes down to her or his emotionally intelligence/literacy. The good news? It’s a learnable skill that helps people become smarter, calmer and a better manager of others.

“Emotional intelligence has direct links to hard results and outcomes,” Wright explained. “There are bottom line improvements throughout the organization because of more clarity for the company’s strategic goals; better efficiency and communications; and managers’ abilities to better train others. This creates more engaged employees.”

Wright has the background to deliver, and has worked with many Fortune 500 firms to develop training processes and provide mentorship and support to executives and emerging leaders. She developed her own training organization in Burlington, Vermont, about 25 years ago, and then worked as a contract trainer for organizations when she relocated to Princeton about 15 years ago. She’s traveled the world to bring her unique brand of training and focus on emotional intelligence to organizations of all sizes. She’s a great local resource available to come in, help and turn things around and, because she’s a smaller and more nimble organization, she can do so at reasonable rates.

Mark the calendar now for her “Using Emotional Literacy to Build Better Teams” networking event on Monday, March 31, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Princeton Public Library. It’s free and open to human resource managers and other manager. Refreshments will be served.
