Bristol-Myers Squibb plans to begin construction shortly on a 650,000-square-foot office building at the intersection of Princeton Pike and Interstate 295 in Lawrenceville, opposite Lenox Drive.
The new office building will allow the company to consolidate operations currently located at leased office space at 777 Scudders Mill Road and Nassau Park Boulevard. There will be space for up to 2,500 employees to work. The company has owned the land on Princeton Pike since 2001 and received building permits for the project in June. It expects to finish the new campus by the end of 2016.
“We are proud to expand our presence in Lawrenceville, a community that has been home to our company for more than 40 years,” CEO Lamberto Andreotti said in a statement. “Our new campus will create a dynamic and modern workplace to advance the important work that our employees are doing to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines for patients with serious diseases.”
The company also has had its worldwide headquarters, with 2,000 employees, at Route 206 and Province Line Road since 1971. The new campus will include personal desktop video, wired and wireless network access, and high-definition videoconferencing. The company said the new workspace will incorporate efficient design that encourages collaboration. The campus will include environmentally minded features, such as below-ground mechanical equipment, indoor bike racks, and LEED-certified energy efficiency.
