The high cost of attending college and the potential debt accrued through college loans are well-known to those who have done their homework on higher education. The good news is that Mercer County Community College (MCCC) continues to be an affordable route to a college degree and/or transfer to a four-year school. Registration is now open for fall classes, with more than 100 degree and credit certificate programs available. MCCC offers financial aid, academic counseling, tutoring and career services.
Most classes begin Monday, August 26, with later-starting classes offered October 1 and October 22. Classes are available on-site at the West Windsor and Trenton campuses, and through MercerOnline. More information is available at www.mccc.edu/enroll.
“Mercer is a great starting point for students seeking their four-year degree, as well as for those seeking skills that lead directly to jobs,” says MCCC President Patricia C. Donohue. She adds that MCCC serves a diverse student body, ranging from recent high school graduates, to adult career changers, to English as a Second Language and international students.
Among Mercer’s most popular programs are those in career areas with projected growth, including health professions, education, business, law enforcement and computer technology. Through the University Center at Mercer, students with an associate degree are eligible to transfer into bachelor’s degree programs offered on campus through William Paterson University, Rutgers University, Fairleigh Dickinson University and Felician College.
The Mercer Honors Program continues to provide opportunities for challenging course work in seminar-style settings. The MCCC Study Abroad Program offers faculty-led Study Tours, as well as full semesters abroad. Tour destinations for the coming year include Costa Rica, London, Italy and China.
New this fall is an Occupational Therapist Assistant program offered in cooperation with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. A new Advanced Manufacturing Technology certificate program prepares students for the modern manufacturing environment, including team-oriented design, production, quality, and maintenance systems.
Beginning this fall, students majoring in Business Administration will be able to apply for dual admission to the Global Supply Chain Management program at Rider University, an emerging field that involves the efficient coordination of the manufacturing process from raw materials to finished product and customer service.
