Buckingham Place provides the highest quality adult day care and home health care services to clients in Mercer, Middlesex, and Somerset counties. We are located on Route 522 in Monmouth Junction, minutes from our former assisted living facility. Director of Buckingham Place Hilary Murray says “we still serve the greater Princeton area with the same professionalism we provided when we ran the assisted living facility, with many of the same, caring staff.”

We offer two main services: adult day care (medical and social) and home health care. Clients can use one or both services as needed.

The Adult Day Care Center, open Monday through Friday, is lovingly run by activities director Barbara Hobsen and Chaviva Nussbaum to provide older adults the opportunity to socialize with peers in a warm and friendly atmosphere. For Barbara, her work is her passion. “I feel I am giving the clients the best quality of life.” She works with clients to design activities and programs they enjoy, such as word games, history trivia, musical programs, and discussion groups. “We have a number of veterans from World War II and the Korean War. They enjoy reminiscing. We encourage them to start talking about their experiences and this becomes an informal support network for all.”

Chaviva oversees the Social Day program and welcomes new members with open arms. Day members enjoy a relaxed and social atmosphere with hot breakfast and lunch. Hilary adds, “we are their family when they are here, which allows the caregiver, either a spouse or other family member, peace of mind knowing their loved one is being well cared for. Our social worker, Minda Curtin, facilitates a monthly support group for caregivers, providing valuable emotional as well as educational support.”

Beth Brobst, RN, director of nursing, oversees all medication administration and is available for health and wellness consultations with members and their families, and can act as the liaison between participants and their physicians. Adult Day members may also receive physical therapy.

Buckingham Place also offers home health aide services. Director of Nursing Helen Bowerman, RN, MSN creates a plan that is unique for each client. In addition to visiting clients every 60 days in their home to provide wellness visits and medication management, she is always available for consultation.

Before services begin, families meet the home health aide to make sure it is a good fit from the start. Help ranges from companionship or help making meals to assistance with daily life activities, such as showering and getting dressed. Many home health aides can drive clients to assist with errands, or the doctor, hair salon, and other outings. Home Health Care can range from a couple of hours a week to 24-hour live-in care and everything in between.
