Several years ago, husband and wife Randy Spears and Dr. Alison Long had some health-related situations with both of their mothers. While helping them out, Randy and Alison realized the ideal solution was a home health care aide. The problem, though, was finding the right help.

Out of these experiences Right at Home, Mercer County was created. Right at Home was founded in 1995 in Nebraska. Two years ago, Randy and Alison started their business in the Village of Lawrenceville to service the home health needs of people in Mercer County.

Right at Home only focuses on in-home health care. This can range from companion care to personal care. Companion care is helping someone go to a store, or prepare a few meals for the week. Personal care includes helping them get dressed, bathed, fed, and other mobility issues. They also provide skilled nursing, as well as respiratory therapy and physical therapy.

“Right at Home specializes in care that allows someone to live independently in their home,” says Randy. Randy and Alison recognize it can be a challenge for someone to leave their home to receive these services. “We come a few times a week in their home setting so they do not have to go back” to the hospital, doctor’s office, or rehabilitation center to receive additional therapies and services.

They provide Certified Home Health Aides (CHHA) to help all of their clients. Visits can range from once or twice a week to daily live-in help and everything in between. “It is up to the needs of the individual clients. We tailor our services and hours to their needs and provide them with the best of care.”

Right at Home provides services to adults in all situations of health needs, including younger adults who are legally blind or recovering from a car accident to elder care and people with Alzheimer’s and other memory-related issues.

They work with insurance companies and programs such as Veterans Aid and Attendance Benefit, as well as health savings accounts (HSAs) and flexible spending accounts to help with home healthcare costs.
