The Glasgold Group, located in Highland Park, brings a unique, aesthetic approach to the practice of facial plastic surgery. They are known throughout New Jersey for the natural appearance of their patients, and they set high standards for care and results.
Drs. Mark Glasgold and Robert Glasgold are second-generation facial plastic surgeons. The Glasgold Group was founded by their father, Dr. Alvin Glasgold.
Drs. Mark and Robert Glasgold describe a facelift as “an operation that should lift from the corner of the mouth down to the neck. “For the doctors, a facelift always includes the neck. Patients often think that lifting the brows (a Browlift) is part of a facelift, but it is another operation that may be done at the same time. The nasolabial folds, smile lines found in cheeks, are not really improved by any surgical procedure, and are best treated with fillers.
There are three kinds of facelifts. The mini facelift, which is based on pulling the skin, has only short-lived and distorted results. The SMAS lift, introduced in the mid-1970s, places the tension of the lift on the platysma muscle, the big muscle in the neck. It produces longer-lasting results, but is often criticized for creating a wind-swept look.
The Glasgold Group performs the deep plane facelift. This procedure was introduced in the mid 1990s. It is the most technically sophisticated surgery and is only performed by a few expert surgeons to produce the longest-lasting and most natural result.
Drs. Mark and Robert Glasgold specialize in deep plane facelifts. They have performed nearly 1,000 deep plane facelifts. Dr. Mark Glasgold says “our goal is to have the patient get the benefits of the best surgery we can do in the healing time of a mini-facelift.
“While most surgeons perform facelifts using general anesthesia, we use twilight sleep, which produces the ideal combination of sleeping through the procedure with the greatest safety and fastest recovery. Patients do not complain about pain following their facelift. We do not use any bandages or drains. Patients can put on make-up and start exercising in under a week after surgery.”
