Spring hurts!

Yes, it does.

Hard little nuggets of green

poke the earth,

red and yellow.

Hyacinths, drunk on their own perfume fall over

in great heaps of purple.

Greedy birds rip worms from rain soaked earth.

Is it no wonder, when summer comes we collapse

exhausted on warm sands?

She now volunteers for several community organizations and belongs to three reading groups and a poetry writing group. She and her husband, Jim, who also retired from state government in Trenton, continue to enjoy art, opera, and gardening.
