In the first draft of Barbara Figge Fox’s cover story for this issue, at one point she described herself as “retired.” We immediately changed it to “retired from her fulltime job.”
Many of you know Barbara Fox’s name from her two decades of service as U.S. 1’s senior editor. Two years ago that title changed to senior correspondent. Though Barbara no longer is imprisoned in our office five days a week, she continues to remain active in the greater Princeton business community, a reporter’s hat always at the ready.
In addition to her continuing reporting for U.S. 1, Barbara is also active with the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce, where she has been responsible for booking many of the luncheon and business breakfast speakers, and with various civic and church activities. You can follow her not only in U.S. 1 but also through her frequently updated blog, www.princetoncomment.blogspot.com, and her Twitter feed, @bffox. Fox is definitely not “retired.”

On January 15 Eden Autism Services celebrated its 23rd annual Eden Dreams gala, Dreams of Petrovskaya, at the Hyatt Regency Princeton. I would like to thank the Dreams committee, led by Peter Franco and Mark Berkowsky, and the many generous individuals, corporate sponsors, and in-kind donors who contributed toward this outstanding event that raised more than $100,000. Considering these economic times, this is quite a feat.
I would also like to thank U.S. 1 for helping to raise awareness of Eden and autism through its fantastic coverage of Eden Dreams in its U.S. 1 Crashes a Party feature. I commend the greater Princeton community for its continued support in helping us to improve the lives of individuals with autism.
The funds raised at this event will help Eden to continue providing the highest quality of services and support opportunities for students and adults to be contributing members of our community. Fundraising is especially critical to Eden’s adult programs where government funding falls short of the true cost of operations. Events like Eden Dreams allow us to sustain our first-rate residential and employment programs and celebrate the essential support of Eden’s friends and families.
