Branding through Social Networking

Social networking, blogging, and micro-blogging have arrived. But what do we do with them? And how do businesses and professionals use these new platforms to build their names and brands.

On Wednesday, July 13, Glenn Gabe of G-Squared Interactive will present “The Power of Building a Personal Brand Online,” a program sponsored by the Princeton Chamber, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Bart Luedeke Center at Rider University. Cost: $40. Call 609-921-1776. This event is part of the chamber’s Leeep Development series for young professionals.

Entrepreneurs have been quick to dive into social media because it solves the two biggest traditional obstacles businesses face in getting their names known — cost and reach. But the easy access, vast reach, and usually free platforms create a whole new set of issues about how to stand out and how to build customer and client bases.

Gabe will cover some of the potential downsides to growing a personal brand. The presentation will cover social media, search engine optimization, blogging, micro blogging, and analytics.

Gabe is a 15-year online marketing veteran who has helped companies develop online marketing strategies that leverage search engine optimization, social media marketing, and web analytics. A former vice president and director of search strategy at MRM Worldwide in New York, he has been the lead search strategist for the U.S. Army, Exxon/Mobil, Bertolli, and Lunesta.
