U.S. 1 Crashes a Party: Arts Council of Princeton, Dining by Design

Everybody knows we’re all about crashing parties, but truth be told, we rarely technically crash them — the host usually knows we’re coming in advance. But in the case of the Arts Council of Princeton’s 10th anniversary of Dining by Design, a hugely popular annual fundraiser, just for fun we pulled a Michaela and Tareq Salahi, who say they were invited guests and did not crash the White House state dinner in November, 2009.

In any case, so far this year, this was the largest and most glamorous affair we’ve seen. A record-breaking 412 guests were greeted in style — I love it when I walk into a party and a handsome waiter places a flute of Champagne directly into my hand. And pretty people everywhere among the Christo and Jean-Claude-inspired decor — a party crasher’s dream.

The event raised over $100,000, also a record for the Arts Council, and the funds will be used to support the organization’s community education programs, including the ArtReach and Arts Exchange programs for at-risk youth.

After the cocktail reception, guests were assigned to several different private homes for a “salon” including a talk by an artist and dinner.
