Morven’s Festival of Trees Preview Party welcomed 175 guests to what has become a must-see Princeton holiday tradition.
Since 2005 the museum’s 13 galleries in the historic mansion have been decorated for the holidays and adorned with trees decorated by local businesses, garden clubs, and non-profit organizations.
A party’s not a party without great food, and Emily’s Cafe and Catering had everyone begging for more, with grilled baby lamb chops, orange blossom shrimp with chili lime sauce, panko-crusted Brie bites with lavender honey drizzle, and my personal favorites, fig mascarpone with candied bacon atop grilled Tuscan bread, and the java bar with coffees, hot chocolate, and eggnog with seasonal flavored syrups. Yum. (Sorry, sounds like a Facebook entry.) If you want to find out how to make a candy cane cocktail (secret ingredient: Ketel One) or a ginger lime fizz (secret ingredient: Bombay Sapphire), you’ll have to contact Emily’s in Pennington.
The event, Morven’s largest fundraiser of the year, raised $50,000 to help support the museum’s exhibitions, public programs, and historic buildings and gardens. The Festival of Trees is on view to the public through Sunday, January 8.
