SCORE Princeton Expands

The Greater Princeton Area SCORE chapter is expanding its counseling schedule at the Princeton Public Library. Beginning on September 14, SCORE will hold counseling sessions on Mondays and Tuesday through Friday evenings.

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday sessions will run from 6 to 9 p.m. SCORE counselors also are available at Princeton Library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. Counseling also is available at Magyar Bank in New Brunswick on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; at Mercer County Connection on Paxson Avenue in Hamilton on Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m.; at PNC Bank in East Brunswick on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and at South Brunswick Library on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:45 to 8:45 p.m.

Lou DeLauro, chapter chair and president, says SCORE is adding Mondays “because the demand for free advice, counseling, and mentoring is dramatically growing due to the current economic situation. It is causing more people to think about starting their own businesses, and causing current small business owners to seek help for their business’ survival or growth.”

SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, has nearly doubled its scale in the past few years, DeLauro says. The nonprofit, volunteer resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration, has more than 40 small business owners and executives who devote their time and expertise to helping others start a new business or help improve the profitability of existing ones.
