Seniors: BYOB — Build Your Own Business

Share post:

Nearly a third of all self-employed Americans are seniors, and senior-age entrepreneurship is on the rise.

To help retirees un-retire on their own terms, the Princeton Senior Resource Center’s Engaged Retirement program has teamed up with Trenton-based nonprofit Isles Inc. to offer “Build Your Own Business,” a weekly, 12-week course in setting up their own businesses. A free preview session for the course will take place on Tuesday, September 22, at 6 p.m. at the Princeton Senior Resource Center, 45 Stockton Street. The course begins on Tuesday, September 29, and costs between $50 and $200, based on a sliding scale of income. Graduates are eligible to apply for small loans to get started. For more information, or to register, call 609-558-7956.

The program is part of the center’s Engaged Retirement programs, designed to help individuals make the transition from work to the next phase of their lives. The programs examine all aspects of retirement from finding the right balance of work and leisure to learning and volunteer opportunities. Engaged Retirement programs were developed with grants from the Princeton Area Community Foundation and the New Jersey Foundation on Aging.
