We can’t say we’re big on holidays, what with our being in the
newspaper business and all, but last week we did enjoy getting our own
valentines – in the form of E-mails from two people we profiled in the
last two issues. Ellie Slott Fisher, author of “Dating for Dads: The
Single Father’s Guide to Dating Well Without Parenting Poorly” (U.S.
1, February 6), E-mailed to let us know “I’m still hearing from people
who saw (the story).” Fisher speaks at Borders Books in Nassau Park on
Tuesday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m.
Leslie Dowling (“Portrait of a `Green’ Architect,’” U.S. 1, February
13), E-mailed us twice, first to thank us for her profile: “I love the
piece you wrote. In the 20 minutes we spoke you asked really smart
questions. I just wanted to tell you that it is a great piece. My
husband (Carlo Momo of the Terra Momo restaurant group) loved it, as
well.” She E-mailed again the next day to say: “I read Janet’s article
(“Constructing Janet: Build It and They Will Come”) after I wrote you
last night and I double that compliment, triple it.”
In fact, a lot of people have commented on the Women in Business
article on the remarkable Janet Lasley, one half of Lasley Brahaney
Architecture Construction, which she co-owns with her husband,
architect Marc Brahaney. U.S. 1 senior correspondent Barbara Fox even
had three people come up to her at church last Sunday to let her know
they had read the piece, unanimously intimating, “It’s about time you
did an article on Janet.”
Over the years, every time Lasley would win an honor or an award,
which was frequently, people would ask us: “When are you going to do a
story on Janet Lasley?” But, alas, we don’t usually cover honors and
awards. We knew the time would come when it would be “right.” And with
the opening of Lasley Brahaney’s new “green” offices at 860 State
Road, we said, “OK, now.” Hey, timing is everything.
Directory Time
Speaking of timing, we are at that time when we are reaching out for
information for our annual U.S. 1 Business Directory, which most of
you know as the definitive listing of central New Jersey businesses.
If we already know about your company (in which case you may have also
been in the book in prior years), you will sometime this week or early
next week receive a fax or a letter from us. We hope you will take a
minute to confirm and update the information for these free editorial
listings and send it back to us.
If you are new in business or new in town, this is the time to let us
know you are here. Just mail (12 Roszel Road, Princeton 08540), fax
(609-452-0033), or E-mail (info@princetoninfo.com – Directory
Submission in the subject line) your basic contact information and
business description and we will take care of the rest.
Please note: This is a business to business directory only. Health and
fitness practitioners will be listed in another directory in June.
What about dining and entertainment venues? We want to know about
them, as well, for our online directory. But now is not the time to
explain all that. It is Directory time, and timing’s everything.
