Jens Pulver, right, a former Ultimate Fighting Championship champion and coach on the Spike TV hit reality series “The Ultimate Fighter 5,” will appear at KatManDu in Trenton on Wednesday, November 7, at a fundraiser to benefit Allies, Inc., a Mercer County-based nonprofit company that supports people with disabilities throughout New Jersey.

Born and raised in Sunnyside, Washington, Pulver did not have an easy upbringing. Despite a horrific childhood and abusive father, he persevered; his remarkable story has been chronicled in the book “Never” by Timothy J. McKinnon (www.neverthebook.com).

After graduating from Boise State with a wrestling scholarship, Pulver became the UFC’s first-ever Lightweight champion. He most recently moved to the World Extreme Cagefighting in the Featherweight division, where he is positioning himself for a title shot.

At the event rock and roll cover band Flathead Dave will perform. www.alliesnj.org or 609-689-0136, extension 143. Photo: Ogy Blazevic
