There’s a full schedule of summer fun in West Windsor thanks to the township’s Recreation & Parks Department.

Registration begins on February 22, for eight weeks of summer camp, which runs June 21 through August 13. This year’s camp will be held at the Village School on New Village Road. Most camps run for a week, and times vary by camp.

“We offer camps for children from pre-kindergarten through 10th grade,” said Recreation & Parks Director Ken Jacobs. “There’s so much going on: travel camps, sports camps, recreation camp and more. And there’s variety: kids can pick from 25 different sports in our sports camp. You name it, we probably offer it,” he added. “Baseball, basketball, dance, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, performing arts, soccer, tennis and volleyball all will be available this summer.”

A highlight of the West Windsor program this year is WaterWorks, the township’s pools, on Route 571 in the Community Park. WaterWorks opens on Memorial Day weekend, and is open weekends only through June 21. Then pools are open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Labor Day.

“Memberships are available for residents and non-residents,” Jacobs said. “Those who submit their membership application and payment by Friday, February 26, will be guaranteed a spot. We have family, individual and senior membership plans.”

WaterWorks is a spectacular complex of four pools: an 8-lane, 25 meter lap pool with diving board; a splash pool with a 2-story slide; a family leisure pool with “zero entry” (ground-level walk-in entry) through 4 feet; and a baby pool with zero entry through 2 feet with water-spray features.

“In addition, there are two playgrounds, 2 basketball courts, a recreation deck with ping pong, foosball and pool, a snack bar with a covered terrace, fun-brellas for shade, and changing facilities with showers. A limited amount of lounge and regular chairs are poolside,” Jacobs added.

Those interested in swim lessons can purchase those for an additional fee. West Windsor also has a swim team and a diving team, with all competitions ending before the pool opens full-time on June 21.
