Today, roughly 40,000 people across our area are waking up hungry.

We are living through a time of great uncertainty. Families are grappling with rising costs, stagnant wages and an escalating housing crisis. No matter who you are, chances are you’ve felt the pinch in some way.

Across the Trenton area, more than a quarter of people are living below the poverty line — and thousands more dangerously close to it. For many, government benefits will decrease or disappear over the next few months. These are truly trying times.

In response, TASK prepared and served 629,000 meals last year, the most ever in history. As the numbers continue to rise, we have made the investments necessary to meet the increase in need, adding more staff and new equipment over the past year to produce more meals for more people. We have also grown our network of community meal sites, including food truck stops across the area, to get more food into more hands at more places.

This moment challenges us all, but it also reminds us of our collective power. TASK is made possible through the generosity and compassion of people like you. If you are looking for a way to help, here’s what you can do:

• Donate today so that TASK can prepare and respond as demand rises;

• Volunteer your time on-site or as part of a service project — individually or with your family, team, religious organization or community group; and

• Stay informed and spread the word about protecting food security programs in our region.

Each meal TASK serves not only nourishes a human being, it also strengthens the fabric of our community.

For more than 43 years, TASK has been serving the community, no questions asked, and has never had to turn anybody away from a meal. With your help, TASK can continue to turn hunger into hope. Visit www.TrentonSoupKitchen.org to learn more.
