Tiny black round dot
Across the hot flaming sun
Through dark glasses I gaze up
And wonder at these celestial balls
Floating in heaven’s canopy
Astronomers from mighty nations
Join to plan expeditions
Perilous voyage as it would be
Chase the silver queen crossing the sun
To measure miles in between
Venus will pass, I will watch
The moment will be just a clip
From the grander movie of galaxies
Until she returns after a century
No encore in my lifetime.
