Spring hurts!
Yes, it does.
Hard little nuggets of green
poke the earth,
assaulting the senses with blossoms of
red and yellow.
Hyacinths, drunk on their own perfume fall over
in great heaps of purple.
Greedy birds rip worms from rain soaked earth.
Is it no wonder, when summer comes we collapse
exhausted on warm sands?
