*A season in 2012
Winter in New Jersey —
violets, roses, snap
dragons, azaleas
bloom.
In halcyon days
daffodils and irises
flourish.
Some call
seventy degrees in February
global warming.
Others believe
prayers
performance of good deeds
may abolish winter
bring eternal spring —
color returns
to white hair
wrinkles
unwrinkle
ninety-year olds
run
marathons
burn
canes for firewood
revel
in the pleasures of the bed.
But I think that Nature
went carousing with Dionysus.
May they
stay
in
eb ri
ated!
