Memories & Lace

the dress

lingers in the back of the closet

alongside

the dust of time

the delicate white

faded to yellow

memories

woven through lace

the girl who wore the dress

will never forget

the boy

who held her hand

she wore a corsage of blue

blossoming in a time of

new beginnings

first love

she wonders if

he ever thinks of her

or remembers

their dance

though a young girl’s first love

never dies

it too fades

with the dust of time

like the dress that

no longer fits

her memories

are kept hidden away

the girl remembers

his promises long forgotten

wondering if some day

they will dance again
