Hopewell-Lambertville Eye introduces two leading technologies

Hopewell-Lambertville Eye Associates is known for its cutting edge proactive and preventive eye and integrative health care. Now it offers patients two technologies few other practices in the country have: the iTrace combination ray tracing aberrometer/topograher and VMAX Vision’s PSF Refractor.

“The iTrace integrates wavefront aberrometry with corneal topography, giving us the ability to take a picture of the eye and see what you see,” said Dr. Kenneth Daniels, O.D., FAAO, of Hopewell-Lambertville Eye Associates. “This optimizes the care in ocular disease, develops a better plan for surgical care, and allows us to optimize a custom soft contact lens: the Wavetouch ™ lens.”

The PSF Refractor ™ is a dynamic refracting system that uses higher sensitivity and improved accuracy to correct aberrations. It allows patients to interactively adjust their own prescriptions to reduce aberrations. This is transferred to their eyeglass lens, called Encepsion™, which is fabricated in a digital free-form method to mathematically bring vision to an “HD” quality.

“Our goal is to tend to each patient on a personal level and determine their eye health and visual correction needs while addressing vision care as part of general health,” he added. “We address eye health as co-managers with a person’s pediatrician, primary care physician, internist and other specialists: diabetologist, oncologist, dermatologist, endocrinologist, and many other disciplines.”

An important aspect of Dr. Daniels’ practice is the use of targeted nutritional supplements to augment eye health and overall health.

“We have been offering nutritional supplementation for more than 15 years, much before the general public was aware of their ocular benefits,” he noted. “Science Based Health based in Houston only works with eye care providers developing the most comprehensive nutritional supplements to assist patients with cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other eye health issues, yet formulated as a ‘whole body’ nutritional protection. I’m on its national medical advisory panel as well as several other speakers bureaus and advisory boards.”

The practice is an external clinical education site for the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University and the New England College of Optometry. Dr. Daniels also teaches in the Center for International Studies, traveling to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East to educate international students in the areas of contact lens, ocular disease treatment and diagnostic methods, and surgical management. He is also an author on the areas of contact lens, dry eye, presbyopia, and refractive surgery.

Mimi Lee-Parma , Ph.D., O.D. is also a clinical instructor in basic sciences and external educator for the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. Patricia Leggin, O.D., is residency-trained in ocular disease and has been active in research in anterior segment medical device evaluations.

Specialized ophthalmic disease and surgical care for patients is provided in cooperation with several retinal groups in the area and the Princeton-Wills Eye Group for state-of-the-art LASIK and cataract surgery.
