Short for education, sports and fun, ESF Summer Camps has added a new program this year to bring all those things and more to kids between the ages of 10 and 16.

The Innovation Project brings 21st century skills to camp so kids can enjoy a unique summer experience primarily focused on creativity, communication, problem solving and collaboration. It will be held locally at the Lawrenceville School.

“This is focus on right-brain thinking,” said Bill Rouse, who co-founded ESF Summer Camps with his brother, Michael. “Kids work together on project-based experiences in a variety of majors from design to journalism, law to forensics.”

Innovation Project also gives kids the chance to select minors covering diverse topics such as digital photography, wings and flight, superheroes and more. It’s a groundbreaking new summer experience to unleash creative talents and to apply the results to real-world, practical issues. The program is run by teachers hailing from education, industry and law, giving young people unprecedented access to high-level professionals.

“It’s cutting-edge, but it’s fun,” Rouse emphasized. “There’s leadership development combined with daily team challenges. We take field trips. We connect to the community. It’s an amazing program.”

ESF Summer Camps will host a general Open House on Sunday, February 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a separate Innovation Project Information Session on Wednesday, February 24, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. (with presentations at 7 and 7:30 p.m.).

Innovation Camp is one of a number of programs from ESF Summer Camps, including Day Camp (ages 4 to 8), Sports Camp (ages 7 to 14), Senior Camp (ages 9 to 15), Tennis Camp (ages 6 to 15) and Phillies Baseball Academy (ages 7 to 14). Most camps run from June 21 to August 20; Innovation Project Camp is July 12 to July 30.

“Innovation Project Camp is a three-week program, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day,” Rouse added. “We offer our other camps in two- to nine-week sessions, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There’s extended day care available, as well.”

ESF Summer Camps has had a profound impact on children by developing life skills through a dynamic staff, high-quality programs, premier locations, time-honored traditions, and a commitment to safety and fun. It boasts one of the lowest staff-to-child ratios in the camp industry. ESF Summer Camps is also deeply committed to helping underserved young people in local communities through its social action initiatives –– the ESF Dream Camp Foundation and Acting Without Boundaries.
