The New Hope Arts Center has announced its upcoming Juried Fiber Exhibition, curated by the fiber artist Rita Gekht, titled “Structures and Constructions in Fiber.” This exhibition aims to challenge traditional fiber techniques with construction while exploring and highlighting structures as a visual subject matter. Fiber artists throughout the Tri-State region are invited to submit their innovative works for consideration by Monday, May 13. The “Structures and Construction in Fiber” exhibition will be featured in the New Hope Arts Center’s main gallery within the recently renovated 200-year-old converted mill in New Hope, PA, a major international arts destination known for its rich cultural history.

The “Structures and Constructions in Fiber” exhibition, running from June 29 to August 18, offers a unique platform for artists to showcase their creativity in two and three dimensions, fiber installations and mixed media, challenge themselves and push the boundaries of their art. At least 50 percent of the materials used will be fiber-based.

“We’re excited to see how artists interpret the theme of ‘Structures and Constructions in Fiber.’ This is a fantastic opportunity for fiber artists to push their boundaries and present their unique perspectives on this intriguing subject,” said Rita Gekht, the exhibition’s curator.

Interested artists can submit their entries by May 13. Each application requires a non-refundable fee of $40, or $30 for NH Arts Members, payable online via PayPal or by check made out to “New Hope Arts.” Artists may submit up to three pieces for consideration, accompanied by an entry form, JPEG images, resume, and artist statement. Submissions can be emailed to newhopeartsorg@gmail.com or sent by mail to 2 Stockton Ave, New Hope, PA 18938 (with images emailed separately).

The curator, Rita Gekht, will serve as the juror and review all submissions in a blind jury process. Works will be judged based on artistic excellence and aesthetic vision, and selected artists will be notified by email.

The “Structures and Constructions in Fiber” exhibition is made possible partly by funding from Visit Bucks County’s Tourism Grant Program and support from individual sponsors Roger Thomas, Ricki Fisher, and Larry Keller.

The West Windsor Arts Council invites artists to submit work for its summer art show, titled “Throwback Summer.” The deadline to enter is June 11 for the show scheduled to be exhibited from July 16 through September 7. The juror for the show is Christine Ramirez, the executive director of New Hope Arts.

The brief to artists is follows:

“As we roll into the sunshine months of the year, what are your favorite memories from summers past? The first dip in the pool with siblings, relishing flavors of popsicles while on a walk on the beach with friends, smoke from the family barbecue, or just a plain old backyard sunbathing? A scroll through Instagram under the hashtag throwback summer opens up a portal of lazy laid back beach days, ice-cream cones melting, screaming roller coasters, smiling children, flowery weddings, cool waters, and more.

“There are moments from past summers we love looking back on and reliving. Let’s throwback to a summer feeling we would like to memorialize forever. Take inspiration from your summer moments and showcase them in your paintings, photographs, mixed media, and more for this show at West Windsor Arts.”

Visit westwindsorarts.org/exhibition/artshow-prospectus for complete entry details.
