I so much enjoyed Dan Aubrey’s most interesting bridge articles in the August 30 issue of U.S. 1.
They encourage me to bridge walk again. I’ve loved looking down from the Frenchtown bridge to see a new (for us) aquatic, Water Star Grass, three Augusts ago. Although not on the Delaware but within view, the pedestrian bridge over Crosswicks Creek near Bordentown has allowed me at low tide to see many large freshwater mussels. I do need to revisit the Calhoun Street Bridge as there are reports that sturgeon can be seen from that bridge in April; when I went the water was too high and muddy following rain to see any.
Could I suggest an article about bridge natural history, which would certainly resonate with me? There would be elements — such as sturgeon, the Falls of the Delaware, and D&R Canal — that could combine natural history with cultural history.
