Meals on Wheels of Mercer County (MOWMC), a nonprofit agency dedicated to providing nutritious meals and related services to seniors and homebound individuals, is actively seeking dedicated delivery volunteers to join its mission of enhancing the lives of our neighbors in need.
Using their own cars, volunteers follow a route that takes about 90 minutes to complete. Meals are picked up at Rider University (Lawrenceville) between 10 and 10:30 a.m. and are delivered Monday through Friday in MOWMC’s service areas: Ewing, Trenton, Lawrenceville, Hamilton, Princeton, East Windsor, West Windsor, and Hightstown. There are also routes where volunteers pick up the meals in East Windsor and Princeton. While MOWMC encourages volunteers to take a permanent route, there are open routes where volunteers can help on days that fit into their schedules.
Meals on Wheels of Mercer County serves homebound seniors who are 60 years and older. Many participants are unable to cook or shop for themselves. Often these older adults are “invisible” in the community and vulnerable to food insecurity. “Not only will you provide a hot, nutritious meal to our participants, you will help ease the social isolation that so many of them face,” says Lisa Kasabach, director of volunteer services. Volunteers enjoy getting to know the participants, and the participants appreciate the meal and the daily conversation. MOWMC provides training and ensures that volunteers are confident and comfortable in their roles.
Interested volunteers should visit https://mowmc.mowscheduler.com/volunteerapplication or contact Lisa Kasabach at lkasabach@mealsonwheelsmercer.org or 609-695-3483, ext. 103.
The Hamilton Township Patriotic Committee (HTPC) is seeking new members. Members must be 18 or older, a Hamilton Township resident, and a patriot.
The HTPC was organized in 1996 exclusively for the promotion and furtherance of patriotism within Hamilton Township. Its mission is to create and foster an awareness of American heritage by honoring and perpetuating the memory of those patriots who have distinguished themselves by their service and sacrifices while members of the armed forces of the United States; and by encouraging all our citizens to participate actively in programs and events offered by the committee which are designed to instill and stimulate love of country and flag.
Visit www.hamiltonpatcomm.org for additional information concerning the Committee and how to join.
