Call for Authors

Mercer County Library System invites local authors to participate in its second annual Book Festival, to be held on Saturday, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch, 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrence. This celebration of literature and storytelling brings together authors, readers, and literary enthusiasts throughout Mercer County (and beyond). Whether you are an established author or an emerging voice, the Book Festival offers a unique platform to share your stories and inspire others.

“We were thrilled by the turnout and enthusiasm at our inaugural Book Festival last year,” said Mercer County Executive Dan Benson. “As we prepare for our second festival, we’re excited to welcome a wide range of authors to share their work and engage with readers.”

Local authors and writing groups of all backgrounds and genres are invited to apply to host tables at the festival. Applications will be accepted through Sunday, March 15. Accepted participants should anticipate a $50 table fee. If accepted, authors will be notified by Wednesday, April 15. Applications are available on the library’s website at mcl.org/events/book-festival.

The Book Festival will feature panels about writing and publishing in different genres, authors discussing their books, and plenty of crafts and kid-friendly performances. More information about the festival and library’s many other programs is available on the MCLS web site at www.mcl.org.

Call for Volunteers

March for Meals is a month-long celebration honoring the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program, the federal legislation that helps to fund community-based programs like Meals on Wheels.

Throughout the month of March, Meals on Wheels of Mercer County will rally support for this vital public-private partnership that provides millions of seniors with essential nutrition services, helping them remain healthier and independent at home.

If you are interested in nominating an influential member of the community to help deliver meals in the month of March, please email outreach@mealsonwheelsmercer.org.

Scholarships Available

Princeton Federal Credit Union (PFCU), a 50+ year cooperative financial institution, announced that applications are now open for its annual college scholarship program. The legacy initiative recognizes high-achieving high school seniors who are current credit union members or who become new members before applying.

“Helping our young members thrive is a meaningful part of our mission — and we’re grateful to be a small part of their journey,” said Megan Peterson, PFCU marketing specialist. “We continue to be impressed by the caliber of students who apply each year, and the personal essays we receive are truly awe-inspiring.”

This year, three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded and paid jointly to the students and their chosen accredited educational institutions. Applicants must be high school seniors in the class of 2026 and PFCU members. To be eligible for the scholarship award, non-members who are high school seniors can join Princeton Federal Credit Union immediately, online at princetonfcu.org or in person at the branch located at 774 Alexander Road in Princeton at no charge.

Scholarship funds must be used for tuition at an accredited educational institution (community college, four-year college, or university) for the 2026-27 academic year.

Applications must be submitted no later than Saturday, April 18. Complete application information and requirements are available online at princetonfcu.org
