The Center for Modern Aging Princeton invites older adults to join a vibrant community where they can cultivate their curiosity and reimagine learning through dynamic daytime study through the Evergreen Forum.

This fall, the Evergreen Forum offers a diverse range of engaging courses, both in-person and virtually online. Immerse yourself in the beauty of human expression with courses in literature and art & culture. Understand current events with courses in government & politics. Or discover pivotal moments and breakthroughs that shape our world in our wide variety of history & science courses.

For more information and a full course list, check out our electronic brochure available online on the CMAP website. Additionally, registration is first-come, first-served and opens online on Tuesday, August 27, at 9:30 a.m. at https://cmaprinceton.org/evergreen-forum.

Most classes begin in September and October and meet once a week for two hours. Fees are $110 for six- to eight-week courses. Senior Scholarships are available to those for whom the fee is a hardship. To apply, contact Johanna Peters, director of social services, at jpeters@cmaprinceton.org, or 609-751-9699, ext. 111.

Call for Performers

West Windsor Arts is looking for performers: musicians, dancers, singers, musical entertainers, filmmakers, entertainers for children, puppeteers, and more for a series of community-driven shows between fall 2024 and spring 2025. WWA seeks local individuals and groups who would like to perform in front of an audience in its 85-seat capacity performance gallery. This is a rolling entry, so please submit applications as soon as possible. Applications are reviewed and decisions are made as applications come in.

Performers get a performance on a Friday evening or Saturday afternoon and access to the space for one rehearsal prior to the performance on a Saturday afternoon. Select theatrical lights and a projection screen or large television are available.

WWA will promote the event on its website and social media channels. Artists receive an honorarium based on ticket sales. Once overhead is covered, ticket sales will be split 50/50.

Ideal performers are willing to make their show extra special by adding a meet and greet, hands-on activity, or something that engages an audience. They will work to keep ticket prices reasonable and promote the event through their community, followers, and social media.

Performance should be at least 1.5 hours long, and performers must supply WWA with photos, images, and graphics for promotional materials.

The space works best with acoustic music and minimal or no drums. Performers must provide their own sound system, instruments, and other equipment. A raised stage is not available. No piano is available on site.

Call for Volunteers

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Middlesex County is seeking volunteers willing to become trained to advocate for children in foster care. Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes.

CASA volunteers spend time with their assigned child, communicate with people involved in the child’s life, including teachers, doctors, family members and caregivers. Using this information, they make recommendations to the family court to ensure the best decisions are made on behalf of the child with regard to needed services, education and other critical factors in a child’s life.

At CASA of Middlesex County, we aim for our volunteers to reflect the diverse population of children that we serve so we can be the best advocates for ALL children. Training and support for this much needed role is provided by our organization, and prior experience is not required. Advocates meet with their assigned child at least once a month and agree to staying the length of one case, an average of 18 months. All applicants must be 21 and over and be able to pass a background check. The Fall Cohort will begin October 2024.

If you are interested in volunteering with children from Middlesex County, submit an application on our website at casaofmiddlesexcounty.org/volunteer/application.html. Questions or want to know more? Email Lauren@casaofmiddlesexcounty.org or call 732-246-4449 ext. 6.
