Calls for Film Lovers & Filmmakers
The Trenton Film Society is looking for new board members; the ideal candidates are film lovers who also love the city of Trenton. Experience in web design, social media management, technology, or film editing are also a positive. If interested, email trentonfilms@gmail.com with the subject line “Board Member Interest.”
Historic Lambertville takes two things very seriously: its artistic community and Halloween. ACME Screening Room kicks off Lambertville’s historic Halloween festivities with the fourth annual Lambertville Halloween Film Festival.
Submissions of short films are currently being accepted. The “early bird” submission deadline is Friday, June 20. The regular deadline is Monday, September 1.
This season short films will be broken down into the following blocks:
• Heady Horror (psychological thrillers, Sci-Fi, and slow-burn horror)
• Guts and Gore (slashers, exploitation, and after-dark)
• Happy Halloween! (Any short film with that Halloween vibe — even if it’s not horror.)
The short film festival will be judged by professional horror filmmakers, distributors, and artists, with six of the best projects walking away with an award.
ACME invites any and all horror directors with a short film to send in an application to be a part of this year’s Lambertville Halloween Festival. There are no restrictions on exclusivity or how old the film is. Shorts from 10 seconds to 44 minutes are welcome.
Awards will be given for Best Heady Horror Short, Best Guts and Gore Short, Best Happy Halloween! Short, Best Special Effects, Best Actor/Actress, and Best Cinematography.
Short films not originally in English must be submitted with subtitles or English audio track.
To be considered for review all submissions must be completed through FilmFreeway at filmfreeway.com/ACMEHalloweenFilmFestival.
Applicants are responsible for all copyright clearance. Any films with unauthorized use of copyrighted materials are not eligible for review.
Application fees are non-negotiable at $20 for early bird submissions and $25 for regular submissions. ACME Screening Room reserves the right to disqualify any application for non-payment.
Any media mailed to ACME Screening Room will not be returned to the applicant. Only one version of a project may be submitted for review.
By submitting an application, if accepted, you agree to grant the festival the right to use film images and trailers for promotional purposes. Submission of your project implies consent to include your film in the current season’s LHFF programing. ACME Screening Room does not pay screening or appearance fees for accepted projects.
Call for Art
The South Brunswick Arts Commission has announced that its next exhibit will be “Geometry of Life.” Explore the order, rhythm and beauty created by geometric patterns, structures, and forms that are present everywhere in our natural and manmade worlds. All static media including fine crafts and abstract treatments are welcome.
The exhibit will run from August 15 to October 3 in The Gallery, South Brunswick Municipal Building, 540 Route 522/Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction. Applications are due by Friday, July 11. Email: southbrunswickgallery@gmail.com or visit www.sbarts.org for additional information or to download the PDF entry form.
Original artwork will be considered in all media except film and video. Work must not have been exhibited at the Gallery before. The commission will determine any issue of appropriateness.
Submissions should be in RGB with 100 pixels per inch resolution, JPEG format, to a maximum dimension of 2000 pixels. Identify each image file name, using underscores to separate your information: Example: initials_applepie_1.jpg.
Work must be wired and ready to hang. All works on paper must be framed; canvas must be framed or have finished edges. No saw tooth clips will be accepted. Works on paper must be under glass or Plexiglas. Maximum Framed Size: 60” wide x 42” high. Three dimensional work must not exceed 20” x 24” footprint.
Buyers are referred to artists. South Brunswick Arts Commission takes no commission. Work is insured upon delivery (maximum value of $1,000 — beyond this the artist will need their own insurance) and until pick-up date. Work may be marked not for sale (NFS) but an insured value must be listed on the application form. Work must remain on display until the end of the exhibit.
Submit entries using the form available online, which can be returned in person, via email, or via U.S. mail. The mail address is South Brunswick Arts Commission, Municipal Building, POB 190, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852. The email address is southbrunswickgallery@gmail.com.
