The South Brunswick Food Pantry renders a great service to the community. Last year 1,303 South Brunswick families were helped by food donations supplied by residents, scouts and businesses. So far in 2015 381 families have been helped.
To continue to help at these levels, increasing donations to the pantry is necessary. One governmental organization has come up with an innovative idea, which could be used in South Brunswick. It involves soliciting help from the library. The library declares certain dates when fines for overdue books can be paid in either cash or donations to the Food Pantry.
I ask the South Brunswick Library Board to consider this type of program.
