Thank you for your article, “In Public Speaking, Practice Matters,” in the January 30 Survival Guide section.

In the age of so much electronic communication, it’s reassuring that U.S. 1 recognizes the importance of oral, in-person presentations in trying to get one’s message heard and understood.

I do have one correction and one clarification. The correction: I received my masters degree in 1974. In 2002 I was certified as a Speaking Circles Facilitator.

The clarification: While Jerry Lewis did indeed influence my first career as a speech pathologist, his ability to articulate his message and rally others around his passion is more aligned with my mission at Speaking that Connects: to enhance speaker confidence and presentation performance for businesses and professionals.

Rehearsals, a public speaking practice forum, starts Wednesday, February 6, from 7 to 8:45 p.m. For information visit www.speakingthatconnects.com/programs.
