The Voice of an Angel

John Ason, an angel investor who has funded 40 startups over the last 17 years, is happy to tell entrepreneurs what they need to do in order to consider being funded by his company. Ason, whose investments include Xlibris, LiveLOOK.com, and Diapers.com, will speak at the New Jersey Entrepreneurial Network’s “Message from the Archangel” event on Wednesday, September 17, at noon at the Princeton Marriott. Tickets are $50. For more information, visit www.njen.com.

He will discuss how angel investors determine valuation, what return on investment they require, and how to get funding.

Ason has been the lead angel on about half of the investments, spending a great deal of time mentoring the companies. He specializes in pre-revenue startups in the areas of e-commerce, technology, advertising, social media, and entertainment. He is a frequent participant at New Jersey Entrepreneurial Network events, and often appears on television and lectures at Wharton and Fairleigh-Dickinson University.

A graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology, Ason worked at AT&T for 25 years, in international business, before leaving in 1996 to pursue investing.
