Last week the Wall Street Journal ran a 28-page special section on the future of wireless communications. Now the NJIT’s alumni association weighs-in with a full-day conference on Tuesday, September 23, 8:15 a.m., in Newark at Bell Atlantic’s Vail Hall, 540 Broad Street.
Entitled Wireless Communications and its Impact on Commerce, it promises to be a seminar that ordinary people can understand. The press release promises it is for busy people who are away from their desks more than 25 percent of the day and others trying to decide which type of mobile phone to purchase. You will learn the fundamentals of how wireless products are working better and cheaper despite dense frequencies plus the latest developments that will affect wireless communications.”
For instance, is it true as Craig McCaw says in the September 11 Wall Street Journal article that many companies who won wireless licenses are on the verge of default on license payments?
Yeheskel Bar-Ness will discuss wireless communications fundamentals, and Samuel Art Harris of Bell Atlantic will cover Wireless CENTREX. Michael Anderson of Bell-Atlantic-NYNEX Mobile and Terry Hayes of Omnipoint Communications will speak on wireless services and terminals. Balancing the Consumers’ Interests is the topic for Mark S. Herr, director of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, and John A. Marinho of Lucent Technologies-Bell Labs will sum up The Future of Wireless.
