Embattled Baroni Lands at Law Firm

Bill Baroni, a Gov. Chris Christie staffer and key figure in the bridgegate scandal, has found a job at law firm Hill Wallack.

Baroni was a Republican state assemblyman representing Hamilton before Christie appointed him as executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The firm, which is based in Carnegie Center, said in a press release that Baroni’s “extensive experience in business and finance, and education and non-profit sectors” would be beneficial to clients. He has a law degree from the University of Virginia and an undergraduate degree from George Washington University.

Baroni resigned from the Port Authority in December amid allegations that the authority closed lanes on the bridge to retaliate against Fort Lee’s Democratic mayor for not endorsing Christie’s 2013 re-election run.

Baroni remains embroiled in controversy. A March 11 article on page 1 of the New York Times claimed that Baroni used World Trade Center wreckage as politically motivated gifts, distributing 9/11 artifacts to influence key mayors to help Christie’s re-election campaign.
