New Jersey’s medical marijuana industry may soon be expanding, and legalization of adult use of marijuana is also under consideration. The agenda includes sessions on what will be needed to operate a cannabis business in New Jersey, and what potential workplace issues may arise for employers as a result of the legalization of cannabis use. Speakers include Jeff Brown, assistant commissioner of the NJ Department of Health, and Bill Caruso, a partner at Archer Law, who will discuss the history of the state’s medical marijuana program and the plans for future policies regarding marijuana.
Other panels include Cannabis Dos and Don’ts for Employers, a planning session for if and when recreational cannabis is legalized. Panelists include Justin Zaremba, editor in chief, NJ Cannabis Insider, and lawyers Corinne Burzichelli DeBerry, Fox Rothschild, Leo J. Hurley Jr., Connell Foley, Laura Link, Archer Law, and Jason J. Redd, director in the government and regulatory affairs departments at Gibbons law firm.
“Starting A Cannabis Business” will address issues business owners may face as they become a cannabis producer, processor, or dispensary. The panel includes Dianna Houenou, policy counsel of the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey, Kelli Hykes, director of policy for emerging markets at Weedmaps, Scott Rudder, president of the NJ CannBusiness Association, and George Schidlovsky, president of Curaleaf NJ.
