Promote Yourself by Promoting the Bus

Here’s a chance to advertise your business and to promote mass transit, as well. The Greater Mercer TMA and Keep Middlesex Moving — the transportation management associations for Mercer and Middlesex counties — are seeking partners to feature in the promotional campaign for New Jersey Transit’s 655 Princeton-Plainsboro bus route.

The cost for partners to participate: Free. “The purpose of the campaign is to increase ridership on the 655 bus service by highlighting places where people can go along the bus route in Princeton and Plainsboro,” says Cheryl Kastrenakes, executive director of GMTMA. “We’re looking for stores, restaurants, libraries and other points of interests people would want to visit. We’re open to ideas, be creative.”

The 655 bus route provides east-west service between Plainsboro and Princeton. Businesses or organizations that are within a half mile of the bus route are invited to have their logo added to the 655 landing page and e-mail campaign that will be sent to more than 30,000 area residents.

“Participating businesses are encouraged to offer an incentive, but it isn’t necessary,” says Kastrenakes. “Incentives like a cup of coffee with purchase, or buy one get one free offers or just showcasing your schedule of events at a library, are all ideas of the type of incentives.” The logo will be linked to the business’s website.

To discover if your business is within the 655 bus route service area, to go to the PDF on New Jersey Transit’s website, www.njtransit.com. Interested partners should contact either GMTMA at 609-452-1491 or the Ryan James Agency (www.ryanjamesagency.com), which is developing the campaign
