Bill LaChance and Sudha Anand of WJL Financial Advisors, LLC, break down the best ways to budget and establish financial stability in “Money Saving Strategies During a Career Transition,” another professional development presentation made possible through a collaboration between the PSG of Mercer County and the Princeton Public Library.

This “Job Seekers” session on Friday, September 15, from 9:45 a.m. to noon in the PPL Community Room, covers how to stimulate cash flow in this scenario by employing methods “that may not be well known or understood” by the average person, such as how to secure medical insurance through the Affordable Care Act or utilize the SECURE Retirement Act.

According to the event details on the PSG website, other topics of discussion will include “taking advantage of shifting marginal tax rates” and weighing the benefits and drawbacks of rolling over traditional 401(k) or 403(b) plans to a Roth IRA.

LaChance is a principal at WJL Financial Advisors, the Chatham-based practice he founded in 2013 after going through his own career transition from accounting to finance. WJL offers services ranging from financial and tax planning to portfolio advice for those experiencing or considering a major occupational change.

LaChance received his bachelor’s in accounting from Bryant University and his MBA in finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, while he also has a financial planning certificate from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Prior to WJL, LaChance was in corporate finance for over two decades at companies like Best Buy and Target.

Both LaChance and Anand are certified financial planners and IRS-enrolled agents, while Anand is an executive coach with a background in financial services who joined WJL Financial Advisors in July 2021.

Anand worked for American Express Bank, Bank of America, and the Royal Bank of Scotland during her 23-year career in corporate and global markets, as well as trading. She covered Southeast Asian markets in areas such as Mumbai, Hong Kong, and Singapore, the latter where she was the CEO of a financial database company and a board adviser to an edtech startup.

Anand received her bachelor’s of commerce in accounting from the University of Calcutta in India, where she is a qualified chartered accountant who has been an associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India since 1985. Sudha became a CPA in the state of Delaware in 2001 and graduated with a master’s degree in coaching and consulting for change from INSEAD’s Asia Campus in 2014.
