Due to overwhelming demand, Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello and Hopewell Township Mayor Vanessa Sandom will hold a second Passport Day for residents of greater Hopewell on Wednesday, June 17, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Hopewell Township Municipal Complex, 201 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road.
Sollami Covello is encouraging residents from Hopewell, Pennington, and nearby towns to call early and reserve a time.
The June 17 event is in response to an overwhelming turnout at the township’s passport event on May 27. Walk-in applicants are welcome, but residents are encouraged to call 609-989-6465 to reserve a specific time.
Those who arrive after 6 p.m. without an appointment might not be processed.
If you go, remember to bring proof of U.S. citizenship — a state-certified birth certificate, a U.S. naturalization certificate, or a previous U.S. passport — and proof of identity — a current driver’s license or state issued identification card. The cost for a passport is $75 for adults and $60 for minors. Each carries a processing fee of $25. Passport photos will be taken on-site for $15 or $10 for seniors.
The federal government requires a separate check for each passport application and the clerk’s office cannot accept cash or credit cards at this event. For children, Federal passport guidelines now require both parents to appear in person — or one parent in person with required documentation — when applying for a passport for a child younger than 16.
