Lear & Pannepacker, an Alexander Road-based accounting firm, has merged with Vizzini & Marcucci, a Hamilton-based company. The combined company will have 26 employees in two offices, one in Hamilton, the other in Princeton.

Joseph Marcucci Jr., principal of Vizzini & Marcucci, said that since 2008, the firm has seen a growing need to offer a wider range of services for its clients.

Carnegie Center-based NRG Energy announced it is looking to raise $1.1 billion, using senior notes, to fund its $2.64 billion acquisition of bankrupt California-based Edison Mission Energy.

Senior notes are obligations paid off before unsecured debt, and are being offered only to institutional buyers.

The Edison purchase, announced in October, will mean NRG will control coal plants that power the homes of 3.4 million people, mostly in the Midwest.
