NJM’s Flynn to Retire

NJM Insurance Group CEO Bernie Flynn is retiring on April 27, to be replaced by Mitch Livingston, currently COO. Flynn, the eighth CEO of the 104-year-old company, has led NJM for 25 years.

“Bernie guided NJM through some challenging times during his 10-year tenure as CEO — including the Great Recession and Super Storm Sandy — ensuring every day that we honor our commitment to be there when our policyholders need us,” said Brian Neuwirth, chairman of NJM’s board of directors. “His commitment resonates throughout the company.”

Flynn said he has worked closely with his successor over the last few years. “That experience, along with the expertise he’s gained in all aspects of the company as chief operating officer, positions him to successfully build on NJM’s legacy,” he said.

Livingston, who joined NJM in 2006, was previously a partner in a Trenton law firm. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and the Rutgers School of Law.
