The Skillman-based Enrollment Management Association (EMA) and New York-based Educational Records Bureau (ERB) have named Mike Flanagan as CEO of the new organization to be formed through a planned merger this spring.
The merger was announced late last year, and the new organization’s name will be chosen through a rebranding process to take place later this year. The EMA, located on Vreeland Drive, offers data-driven enrollment solutions and administers the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) and the Standard Application Online (SAO). ERB offers assessments and admissions testing for private and selective public K-12 schools.
“By bringing ERB and EMA together, we are creating a new organization that is much more than the sum of its parts,” said Fran Bisselle, board chair for ERB, in a statement announcing the merger. “This merger represents a leap forward in our ability to do more for schools, students, and families; share strengths; close existing gaps; and streamline the member experience. As schools look to build deeper connections with families, we will be able to help them by innovating more quickly and creating new ways to identify what each child needs from a holistic perspective.”
The appointment of Flanagan, which takes effect May 12, was the result of a CEO search initiated following the announcement of the merger. He is currently the CEO of Mastery Transcript Consortium, a nonprofit organization that has built a digital competency-based credentialing platform that does away with traditional metrics like grade point average. The group was acquired by Princeton-based ETS in 2024.
Flanagan previously served as CEO of School and Student Services at the National Association of Independent Schools. He also co-founded managed services provider Intrepid Learning Solutions and helped to grow it into a $35 million organization.
