McCarter Theater Center has appointed Leslie Vought Kuenne, pictured above, president of its board. A Princeton resident and engaged community activist, Kuenne has been a McCarter trustee since the 2012-2013 season and assumed her new duties as of July.

Kuenne has a bachelor’s in biology from University of California San Diego and a master’s in genetics from Sarah Lawrence College. She worked as a genetic counselor in both New York and Philadelphia-area hospitals. She was previously on the board of the Arts Council of Princeton and the Stony Brook Garden Club and volunteered with the Trinity Counselling Service and Princeton Day School.

She is married to Princeton businessman Christopher Kuenne and is the mother of three sons.

Leaving the president post but remaining on the board is Brian McDonald, who began his service at McCarter as a trustee in 2002 and assumed the role of board president in 2012. In a press release, McCarter credited McDonald with reestablishing the theater’s financial stability in the midst of a downturn in arts funding. McDonald is a businessman and past vice president of development at Princeton University.
