Two of the state’s biggest minority chambers of commerce — African-American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey and the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce — will join forces on Wednesday, July 19, for a unity luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza on Scudders Mill Road. John Harmon, president of the African American chamber, and Carlos Medina of the Hispanic chamber will both speak at the event, with journalist Glenn Townes serving as moderator.
Townes, a writer and reporter, is a 1986 graduate of the University of Iowa. He has been a journalist for 25 years. His break in journalism came in 1995 when he was published in Essence Magazine. Since then he has written for MBE Magazine, Minority Engineer, Hipanic, NJBiz, and others. He is currently a contributing writer to New York-based Black Enterprise Magazine, where he writes the “Wealth for Life” column, and Swedesboro-based South Jersey Journal.
