The board of trustees of Meals on Wheels of Mercer County (MOWMC) has appointed Venetta Ellerbe as their new CEO. She began in her new role on March 17, replacing Amy Flynn, who moved on to become CEO of Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.

Ellerbe “brings more than 20 years of experience within New Jersey’s nonprofit sector, in roles that highlighted her skills in leadership, operations management, fundraising and strategic planning,” Board Chair David Dafilou said in a statement announcing the appointment. “As MOWMC works to meet the growing demand for our services, the board is confident that Venetta’s leadership will bring increased stability, innovation and compassion to our mission.”

Ellerbe joins MOWMC having most recently served as interim CEO at Several Sources Shelter in Ramsey, New Jersey. A longtime resident of Somerset, she has served a number of New Jersey nonprofits including as director of major gifts at Ramapo College, director of development at Unified Vailsburg Services Organization, and director of special events and annual giving at Middlesex County College Foundation. She has also been an instructor at Union County College.

In addition to a bachelor’s degree from Ramapo Cllege, Ellerbe holds a master of public service leadership in nonprofit management from Thomas Edison State University.

“I am so pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the important work being done at Meals on Wheels of Mercer County,” Ellerbe said. “My background in fundraising and strategic development can help strengthen what is already in place and open new opportunities for growth. I am eager to collaborate with the board and staff to bring the strategic plan to fruition, ensuring that Meals on Wheels of Mercer County continues to expand its reach and impact. I look forward to fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered.”
