The Jewish Center in Princeton will officially install Rabbi Andrea Merow with a celebration including food and music on Sunday, May 1, at 11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
Merow replaced long-time rabbi Adam Feldman, who died suddenly in December, 2019. After a nine-month search, her appointment was finalized in February, 2021, and she started her work at the center in July, 2021, but a formal celebration was postponed due to the pandemic.
“We were able to welcome Rabbi Merow in the summer, but we had more limitations,” said Joel Berger, executive director of The Jewish Center. “Now we are truly able to celebrate, and we are thrilled to start this new chapter at The Jewish Center.”
Merow, formerly on the rabbinic staff at Beth Sholom Congregation in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, has experience in rabbinic leadership, pastoral counseling, and membership engagement.
She was ordained in the Conservative movement and earned a master of arts with a concentration in education at the Jewish Theological Seminary in 1997. She is a recipient of the Sidney Greenberg Prize in Homiletics and the Simon Greenberg Prize for Rabbinic Achievement at the Seminary. Her education includes a bachelor of arts with honors from Columbia University.
The Rabbi Search Committee was led by Polly Strauss and Dana Molina. Over the nine-month search, the committee received almost two dozen applications, and three were invited for a virtual visit experience that allowed them to meet with members of the congregation.

Michael R. Fonde, 77, on April 22. He retired in 2007 as a storekeeper for the State of New Jersey Department of Health after 36 years.
Vincent J. Maida, 89, on April 24. The U.S. Army veteran was retired from the New Jersey Department of Transportation, where he worked as an accountant.
Gail M. Kelly, 78, on April 17. She worked as an accounts receivable accountant for Carter Wallace in Cranbury.
