Management Moves: BBBS-Mercer

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer County (BBBS-Mercer) has announced the appointment of Stephanie Karpowicz as executive director. Karpowicz was most recently vice president, programs & operations, of Junior Achievement of New Jersey (JANJ). She is an alumna of Rutgers University.

Karpowicz has more than 13 years of experience with nonprofit organizations, including the last 11 years with JANJ. She was responsible for overseeing and leading core programming initiatives, developing and executing multi-year operational plans, establishing strategic priorities, and setting ambitious goals for programmatic implementation. Her work has reached over 80,000 students annually and over 3,000 corporate and community volunteers.

“Stephanie met all the criteria the Board sought in a new leader,” said Gary Marx, president of BBBS-Mercer’s Board. “Her enthusiasm for nonprofit work is truly inspiring, and she possesses proven skills and experience to spearhead BBBS Mercer’s future growth and success. We are excited to see her lead our team.”

“I am honored to become a part of BBBS-Mercer’s journey as the incoming Executive Director,” Karpowicz said. “I wholeheartedly embrace BBBS-Mercer’s mission to cultivate and nurture one-on-one mentoring connections that ignite the power and promise of youth in Mercer County.
