The Princeton region is a melting pot of cultures coming together to do business the American way. Consequently, English may not be the first language for a professional who must make a presentation. Eileen Sinett, CEO of Speaking that Connects, a Plainsboro-based communications training and consulting firm, is offering three programs for area professionals looking to improve their communications skills.
“Cultural Communication Circles” is a monthly forum moderated by Sinnett that addresses specific cultural questions and concerns, such as recognizing slang and what is or is not considered appropriate humor. This is a program for professionals and individuals who can learn to improve communication on everything from job interviews to calling 911. The program runs on second Wednesdays, February 12, March 12, and April 9, beginning at 7 p.m. Cost: $20 per session.
“Pronunciation That Connects,” a program built to overcome more severe accents that hinder communications in business runs on Tuesdays from February 18 to March 18, beginning at 7 p.m. Cost: $250.
“Training for Multicultural Individuals,” designed to help break through linguistic barriers and enhance pronunciation, professional presence, and cultural expectations, takes place on Saturdays, from April 12 to May 3, at 9:30 a.m. Cost: $750.
