Learn How to Be a Resilient Job Seeker

The Princeton Public Library and PSG of Mercer County’s partnered “Job Seeker” presentations continue with “The Resilient Job Seeker” on Friday, April 21, with Terrence Seamon. Seamon, an executive career transition consultant with the Ayers Group in Princeton who also has his own business based in Somerset, Smart Moves Coaching, will host the event from 9:45 a.m. to noon in the PPL Community Room.

Over more than 30 years of his career, Seamon, a leadership and organizational development professional who received his bachelor’s in human communication and his Ed.M. from Rutgers University, plans to “share strategies to help you strengthen your resilience and keep up your motivation and wellbeing during a challenging job hunt.”

At Smart Moves, known formerly as Facilitation Solutions, Seamon is the principal and senior consultant working in the “main practice areas” of “executive coaching, leadership development training and coaching, and career transition facilitation,” according to his LinkedIn. Prior to this, he was an HR training manager in the corporate world.

Seamon is the author of three books, one of which is “Change for the Better: The Leader’s Guide to Change,” a 2013 book on what to do in tough times that have since become even more challenging because of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Seamon says, according to the PSG website, that “the pandemic has made these last few years a roller-coaster of uncertainty, emotions, and stress. In normal conditions, a job search is very demanding and can take a toll on you, mentally and physically,” and “to stay healthy during such a career transition, it’s very important to look after your well-being.”

This, he continues, will lead him to “share five research-based strategies — maintaining positivity, engaging your strengths, leveraging relationships, clarifying your sense of purpose, and accomplishing goals — to help you strengthen your resilience. Doing so will help you keep up your optimism, your motivation, and your wellbeing during a challenging job hunt.”
